Welcome to the Pikeo groups

You can now get together on Pikeo to share your passion. Create groups to gather people around your favorite topic, join others to show them your photos. For instance, you love sunsets?

It's as simple as this: Create your group, name it "Sunset". Add your sunset pictures Invite your fellow sunset lovers. And you're done!

Let me show you one of my favorite : Panoramas by Vincent

This group is about panoramas: this means a group of pictures that have been stitched together and results in a picture with a size different from the usual. Please don't add any picture that has a standard aspect ratio.

Features update: it's all about geography!

Have you noticed the small globe below your picture? If you are the happy owner of a GPS cell phone or a bluetooth GPS receiver, you can now upload your pictures to Pikeo (which you could already do before, of course) along with the GPS coordinates and your picture will automatically appear on the map! Check out those pictures sent by an Nokia N73 paired with an Orange GPS receiver... Leslie is still on vacations and her pictures are already positionned on the map, check it out!
Talking about the map, we now have a great zoom animation which makes the map even more pleasant to navigate. You can now travel the world in Pikeo without a glitch...

Few upgrades

Hi all,

You may have noticed a couple new items on pikeo since yesterday.
First you can now sort your pictures and the ones from anybody by date taken, uploaded or by view count. This means you can finally see what are the most popular shots of your friends. We will also try to expand this feature in the near future to give you more flexibility.

Also you can now see little orange globes next to geotags, even when they are not yours. This is to help you find out where a random picture has been taken when you browse the world on pikeo. Just click on the globe if it's available, and you will see.

Of course a lot of other changes are also happening behind the scenes to make pikeo better, but we don't want to bore you with that.

New features to start conversations

We have recently released a couple new features that will make it easier for you to tell your stories and for people to react to them.
First we introduced support for captions. It means that you can add a description to any of your pictures, just by clicking on the field dedicated to it under it. It's simple and it gives you more freedom to talk about your shot.

In parallel we also introduced a small feature but a big improvement to the comments. A lot of comments left from people end up being questions about your picture or the place where it's been shot. To make sure people know that you answered, each comment comes with a Reply button. When you click on it the person will be notified that you answered her comment. You can really get the conversation going!

Speed is the beginning

We've been silent for a while but we've been far from hibernating. While the northern hemisphere has been getting colder and everything has been getting slower, pikeo didn't stop getting better. And for us, it starts by getting faster. Basically the performance has improved dramatically since the holidays (a big thanks to the dev team).
The community is also continuously growing and the amount of pictures, places and tags you can find by searching from www.pikeo.com is extremely encouraging.

If you're using pikeo you've probably noticed a lot of enhancements and mini features popping up. Rest assured big announcements and bigger features have not been forgotten and are underway.

Finally, for our Mac readers. Some users reported a flaky upload from Mac, this is now a thing of the past and pikeo will now work flawlessly from Mac, independently of your browser.

Enjoy!

Update

The migration is taking a little more time than we would like... We'll keep you up to date.

We are finally doing it! Yes, we are moving pikeo to a data center. It means that you will get more out of pikeo soon in terms of speed.
We should be back around 6pm PST.
Drop us a line if you have any question.

Sorry about the wait, we'll be back soon!
